Chapter Two
You gasped out loud and looked up at the table. He really was up there! You looked at Draco. He was looking shocked, so apparently he didn’t know until now either. Lucius was scanning the cheering crowd, when his gaze landed on the Slytherin table. His eyes fell on you and you looked away, blushing. You had always thought he was cute but would never admit it, even if a knife was at your throat. After the cheering subsided, Dumbledore started the feast.
“So it’s Professor Malfoy now, huh?” You say with a grin. Draco looked at you. “Yes, Professor Malfoy is correct, Miss Kournicova,” he joked. You laughed and shoved him playfully. “So Jacob, why do you think Dumbledore let Lucius become DADA teacher and not Severus?” You loved using first names for the teachers. It always ticked them off. He finished swallowing whatever he was eating. “I don’t know, probably because Dumbledore is doing what he always does, he doesn’t let Snape teach that class; and they needed a new DADA teacher for this year soo…they hired Lucius,” he explained like it was the most obvious thing in the world. “Oh, okay,” you laughed. You continued to talk about other subjects until dinner ended.
The five of you were walking back to the Slytherin common room when Nick spotted you and came jogging over. “Hey, I’ve looked for you peoples everywhere.” He complained. “Well, obviously, you didn’t look hard enough,” said Jacob in a sarcastic tone. Nick grinned at Jacob and walked alongside you. “So where were you sitting?”
“We were sitting at the Slytherin table, at the far end by the teachers,” I told him. “Ah.” The three of you continue to chat until you reached the stone wall. “Uh, anyone know the new password?” you asked. You turned to Draco. “Your dad’s a teacher, you wouldn’t happen to know the new password, would you, Draco?” He looked at you and shook his head. “Sorry, he never told me. I didn’t even know he was a teacher!” You sighed. “Well, maybe we should just camp out here for the night.” You were joking, of course, but some people are just…I’m not even going to finish that sentence. Anyway, just as you said that, Lucius Malfoy came around the corner. “There will be no need for that, Miss…?” “Kournicova,” you corrected him.
“Tammy Kournicova.” “Well, it’s nice to meet you, Miss Tammy.” He turned to Jacob, Nick, and Constanza. “And who are your little friends?” “My ‘little friends’ are Jacob, Nick, and Constanza.” You said, pointing each one out in turn. “Jacob and Nick are my cousins and Constanza’s my best friend.” You grinned at her. She gave you a small smirk. You turned back to Lucius. “You did come to give us the password, correct?” He looked away from them, his eyes locking with yours. “Correct.” There was a brief moment of silence. You crossed your arms. “Well? What is it then?” you demanded impatiently. The others were staring as well. “Ah, of course, my apologies, Miss Tammy.” He smirked at you and turned to the stone wall. “Dark Arts.” The stone wall slid away to reveal the opening and he turned to smirk at you one more time and began to walk down the hall. “Good night, Draco,” he called over his shoulder as he disappeared around the corner.
